Five Eyes become four as New Zealand distances itself from anti-China action
The rage directed at Jacinda Ardern, in the wake of New Zealand’s resistance to the anti-China policy of the Five Eyes nations and its intention to pursue a bilateral relationship with China, demonstrates the increasing fragility of the imperialist order. It cannot cope with the crisis it has created, and nor can it cope with the continuing rise of China as an independent economic power. Inevitably, Anglo-American imperialism seeks to blame the former on the latter.
Anti-China propaganda, it seems, is the order of the day, whether the topic is Covid-19, Huawei (5G), Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, the Falun Gong (a CIA-sponsored religious cult) or just good old-fashioned ‘human rights’, and the persistent but groundless accusations that these mean less to the Chinese working class ...
