On 13 October 2021 Sweden hosted the Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, allegedly attended by leaders from 50 countries.
The Swedish King and Queen attended, as did the Swedish prime minister, Stefan Löfven (who was particularly unctuous at the forum). Löfven is the first Swedish prime minister ever to lose a no-confidence vote (June 2021), meaning that, at the time, he had the choice of resigning or triggering a snap election. After some to’ing and fro’ing, Löfven announced that he will resign upon the election of his successor in November 2021.
Others reported to have attended the holocaust forum were UN Secretary-General António Guterres, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a virtual appearance, in which he reportedly did little to lessen societal tensions.
Also attending the conference were Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai and Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan. Dayan said that it is Yad Vashem’s mission to ensure that the voices of the victims and the testimonies of the survivors will remain accessible and relevant today and for future generations. Speaking from Jerusalem, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, attending online, called for the world to adopt the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) “definition” of anti-Semitism (I have addressed the disastrous overreach of IHRA concepts of antisemitism and holocaust denial here). Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, in a pre-recorded message stated that Australia would embrace the IHRA concept. Herzog said that the IHRA has become a widely accepted reference point in the fight against anti-Semitism and holocaust denial, with over 30 countries having adopted the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, and he called upon all nations to do so. He advocated improving holocaust education in schools with the help of Yad Vashem, the Israeli holocaust “memorial”, which is built in plain view of the location of the Deir Yassin Massacre of 1948, in which Zionist terrorists “cleared the land” by lining up and shooting men, women and children, in preparation of proclaiming the state of Israel in May 1948.
There is a Swedish saying that translates to “shame is now walking on dry land” (nu går skam på torra land).
On 4 October 2021 the IHRA published a Handbook on Memory Laws. I am addressing it in a book that I am currently writing on the consequences of succumbing to the IHRA’s demands for thought and speech control, and its concepts of anti-Semitism and holocaust denial and distortion.
On 27 October 2021 Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, instructed the UN secretary-general that Erdan expects the UN to move quickly to adopt the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism.
Sweden is currently considering joining those European countries that have made “holocaust denial” a crime.
Some say that we have the governments we deserve. I wouldn’t go that far, but I will say that what we allow is what will continue.
